Review: YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Mascara and YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Shocking Mascara

This is a review on the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Mascara and the YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Shocking Mascara. Both mascaras have been out for quite some time now, and I have used them both for a reasonable amount of time to be able to review these products. This review is based on my opinions and my opinions only therefore your experience with this product may not be the same as mine :)

YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Mascara
This is one of my favourite mascaras of all time and is definitely a must have product of mine as this product makes my lashes look AMAZING. This mascara comes in a gorgeous gold tube packaging that looks super luxurious and I could definitely look at it all day!  It has a very pleasant floral scent, which I like but some of you who are sensitive to scented products may be discouraged by the strong floral scent. The formula is lovely as it does a really good job in the lengthening and volumising department and also is great at separating your lashes. This mascara does spread and separate your lashes evenly which is always nice and is very black (deep black) in colour. This mascara coats all of your lashes evenly and doesn't make your lashes clumpy which is always a plus (which i like) as you won't get spider looking lashes! It is also very good for layering and adding multiple coats as it evenly coats each lashes thinly, but honestly, 1 coat makes all the difference to my lashes. Some bloggers have talked about their mascara flaking and smudging, I haven't had any problems with both flaking or smudging both in winter or summer, but the downside to this mascara is of course the hefty price tag as well as how fast this mascara dries up. In my experience, this mascara dries up in about 2-3 months; therefore repurchasing this mascara every 2-3 months with the hefty price tag is always hard and can only be done when you can splurge on a high end product. This mascara is great for the day time when you want a natural false eyelash effect, as it gives you the effect of having false eyelashes without the extra step or pain of putting them on ^.^
As this mascara is a high-end mascara it is definitely on the pricy side for a mascara costing $52 AUD, definitely a splurge. Although it is very pricy, I personally believe that it is worth the money.

YSL Volume Effect Faux Cils Shocking Mascara
I was very excited when the Shocking mascara came out, as I was a big fan of the original Faux Cils mascara. This mascara also comes in the same gold tube packaging as the original Faux Cils mascara, but has the word "shocking" written on the tube. I knew I wasn't a very big fan of very bold and dramatic looking eyelashes but I gave it a go and ended up disappointed :(. This mascara is definitely more of a nigh time friendly mascara which is much more clumpier and dramatic looking than the original Faux Cils, therefore if you are a fan of clumpier/dramatic looking lashes, this mascara may be for you. I have seen my friends use this mascara and it looks GORGEOUS on them, so I am disappointed that I didn't get the same results as them. This mascara gives your lashes a great voluminous effect and also lengthens your lashes at the same time, you will definitely not need false eye lashes with this mascara! For me, it was just far too thick and clumpy looking and gave the spider lash effect, which is something that I hate, on top of that my lashes didn't end up separating as well as the original faux Cils, and it was a total mess. This mascara is also the same price as the original Faux Cils, at $52 AUD, which again is very expensive and also dries up pretty quickly like the original Faux Cils mascara. I will honestly say that I will not be repurchasing this mascara, it was clump city for me and I didn't have a good experience with this.

To sum it all up, both the mascaras are on opposite ends of the scale for me. I loved the original Faux Cils but ended up very disappointed with the Shocking mascara. I know that so many people raved about the Shocking mascara but for me, it didn't work out. Both mascaras are definitely not cheap for mascaras but i do believe that the original Faux Cils is worth the splurge.

Please let me know your thoughts on these mascaras if you have tried them.
xoxoYuki
